Get Ready For The Derby with Kentucky Derby Invitations And Party Supplies by Gail Leino
Every April for over one hundred and thirty years the Kentucky Derby is run, it is the first leg of what is known as the triple crown in horse racing. This is known by the fans of the derby as the greatest two minutes in sports. So go ahead and get those invitations out to invited guests, just do not plan on sending them out two minutes beforel the race. No ideally send out the invites about one to two weeks for this party. Choosing the party invitations for this event, they should be classic and classy to honor this 137 year tradition. A tradition that’s exciting to many, even those who are not always interested in horse racing.
The event needs to have some design to it and so for this a list of party supplies is needed. The first things on the list will focus on the decor of the room, other supplies and those related to food. The Kentucky Derby is about three things, great horse racing, the experience with friends, family and strangers and then there is the food and drinks.
In planning the party make sure to include these items to party supplies needed; sugar, water, sprigs of fresh mint, crushed ice, Early Times Kentucky Whisky and silver julep cups are needed. What are these for, this is what is needed to make a famous drink of the Kentucky Derby that has been a tradition for a long time. Mixed in the right quantities these ingredients and party supplies will produce the Mint Julep. So to do this start with boiling sugar and water together to make a simple syrup. Allow to cool, then place in a covered container with six to eight sprigs of fresh mint. Finally refrigerate for the night. Using the julep cups fill one at time with crushed ice, add one tablespoon mint syrup and two ounces of the Early Times Kentucky Whisky. Stirring rapidly will frost the outside of the cup and top with a sprig of fresh mint.
Be sure to have plenty of plates, napkins, cups, utensils, glasses, and so forth, all in the theme of the Kentucky Derby, or at least horse racing, if possible. Then there is the need for music, namely the lyrics and music only for the song “My Old Kentucky Home.” It starts off with, “The sun shines bright in the old Kentucky home,” and continues from there. This song is played with the horses make their way from the paddock to the starting gates.
